Prelude Excerpt:
Meanwhile, somewhere within the vast reaches of space,
light-years away from the Korporlu sector, a single, battered,
crumbling battlecruiser emerged in to United Earth Directorate space.
It was the last surviving asset of the fleet the UED had sent to
conquer the Korporlu sector. The tales it's few living crewmembers
would tell would seep through the ranks of the UED forces, and,
despite screening the media from the populace, send waves of terror
throughout the entire human race.
The UED had lost. And the
Zerg were coming.
But the UED was not the only power on earth to hear of the defeat.
Though almost the entire globe was covered by UED territory, there
remained a handful of democratic states that, despite ever increasing
military, social, and economic pressure, had refused to give up their
sovereignty. This small but resilient force was known, simply, as the
Alliance.
Despite overwhelming UED
power on the Earth, it was the primary Alliance nations that had
spearheaded the first space exploration programs, literally hundreds
of years ago. Thus, the Alliance survived because it maintained a
head start on all space exploration programs, and it's colonies in
space were considerable, rivaling and even surpassing that of the
colonies of the much larger UED. But one thing was certain: if the
Zerg reached Earth, everyone would be doomed, both the UED and the
Alliance alike.
At 2400 hours, the first
compliments of the strike force that would take on the Zerg gathered
at New Whales colony, or, stage point OMEGA. At approximately 0023
hours, they began to mass up to move out.......
